Anson Court Docket Searches
The city offers no public case-search form with query fields. Its official City of Anson page does link to TrafficPayment, but that destination sometimes stalls in a redirect or cache loop. Treat it as a way to pay a fine. It is not evidence of a complete docket database. The city should confirm whether it accepts a name, citation number, date of birth, or any other field before you rely on it.
Work from the document in hand instead. Read the issuing agency, the court name, the citation or case number, and any appearance information. Then match the matter to its official route:
- For an Anson police citation or city ordinance matter, contact City Hall or municipal court and ask how to confirm the citation and setting.
- For a county or precinct traffic matter, call the Jones County Justice of the Peace.
- For a felony or district civil, family, or child-protection case, contact the Jones County District Clerk.
- For county-court probate, guardianship, juvenile, or listed county-record matters, start with the Jones County Clerk.
- If re:SearchTX returns a result, verify it with the clerk holding the original record.
Give the clerk every locator you have. A case number works best. A full case style, citation number, filing type, or date range can also help. Staff may decline to run an open-ended name search, so the more precise detail you bring, the better.
Anson Court Records Use Two Addresses
Anson may be the county seat, but its two main public buildings serve different dockets. Anson City Hall sits at 1301 Commercial Avenue. The city posts 325-823-2411, hours of Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and publicrecords@anson-tx.us. That contact covers city administration and the municipal route. The email serves municipal administrative records, though. It does not replace the court's own process for a case file.
The Jones County courthouse stands at 100 Courthouse Square. Its offices hold the rest of the Anson court records. A district case, a county probate file, or a JP matter should never go to City Hall just because it arose in Anson.
Routing rule: Start a city citation with Anson Municipal Court. Start a district, county-court, or JP matter with that court's custodian.
Inside the Anson Municipal Court
Anson Municipal Court hears city ordinance violations and fine-only Class C matters within city authority. That includes many traffic citations. The official Anson public-officials page names Cheryl Guernsey as municipal judge. The same name appears on the county Justice of the Peace page, but that overlap does not prove the two offices are one role. Keep the municipal docket and the JP docket separate.
City jurisdiction is narrow. A felony never becomes a city-court case just because it arose in Anson. Before requesting anything, know whether you need the citation, complaint, judgment, payment history, disposition, or hearing entry. Each item can carry its own request or fee.

Anson Citation Payment Is Not Records
The official city homepage carries a TrafficPayment link. That route can move money without ever showing the filed complaint, hearing history, disposition, judgment, or a certified record. Paying there proves nothing about name searching. Nor does it mean the result equals the full Anson court docket.
| Need | First route | Confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Pay a city citation | Official Anson payment link | Amount, deadline, and fee |
| Confirm a setting | Municipal contact | Date, time, court, and changes |
| Obtain a record | Court custodian | Plain or certified copy and cost |
Call before paying if the page will not load or its facts differ from your paper notice. Payment never removes a duty to appear. Only the court can confirm the effect on a specific Anson case. So pick up the phone first.
Note: Reach the payment vendor through the official city page. Verify its current domain before entering any financial information.
Finding Anson Court Dates
Check any Anson court date with the court that set it. The date printed on a ticket can move through a reset or continuance. A reset means the event moved. It does not mean dismissal. If nothing appears online, call with your citation number. Ask whether the date is an appearance deadline, a shared docket call, or an individual hearing.
| Date | The day currently assigned, subject to court action. |
|---|---|
| Time | The listed start, which may be a shared docket call. |
| Location | The municipal or county destination named by the court. |
| Setting Type | The event purpose, such as appearance, pretrial, trial, or compliance. |
| Status | A procedural label that may change as entries are added. |
Ask staff to repeat the location. A City Hall contact and a county courthouse office both sound local in Anson, yet they serve different dockets. Write down the court name and the time of your call.
Anson Court Record Fields Have Limits
A docket is an event index, not the whole case file. It may list the style, court, filing date, parties, charge or claim type, hearings, filed documents, orders, and disposition. Fields vary by court and access level. An event line proves only that the clerk entered an event, and it may not reveal the full text or effect of the document.
- Setting
- A scheduled court event, not necessarily the final trial.
- Reset
- A setting moved to another date. The case remains active unless another entry says otherwise.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome, subject to the wording in the judgment.
- Certified copy
- A copy authenticated by the custodian and requested separately from a docket view.
The court posts no public form with name, citation, offense, date, or status fields. So treat none of those labels as required inputs. Ask what the court accepts instead, and request the underlying document whenever a short entry leaves you unsure.
Anson Traffic Ticket Lookups
Start with the ticket itself. Who wrote the citation decides where the case lives. An Anson city citation usually belongs to municipal court, while a county or precinct ticket runs through the Jones County Justice of the Peace, which lists 325-823-3761 and 100 Courthouse Square. No precinct breakdown is posted, so confirm assignment before you mail a request or a payment.
City Hall handles the rest for an Anson ticket. Staff there can confirm the municipal route, how to appear, and how to pay. Request a docket or copy as a separate ask. Fine-only records may carry confidentiality limits when age, offense, and record type trigger protection, so a blank result does not mean paid, dismissed, or nonexistent.
One more caution. County, district, municipal, and federal systems do not swap. See Jones County traffic court records for the full routing picture.
Anson Court Records Split by Custodian
Know which office holds the file before you call. The Jones County District Clerk keeps criminal, civil, family, and child-protection records for the 259th District Court. The office posts 325-823-3731, fax 325-823-3289, P.O. Box 429, and its courthouse location.
The Jones County Clerk is the other half of the split, holding probate, guardianship, juvenile, and the listed county-record categories from the constitutional county court. Walk-in hours run 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. on the first floor at 100 Courthouse Square. Mail goes to P.O. Box 552, Anson, TX 79501, and the phone is 325-823-3762. Those hours belong to this office alone, so do not assume other court counters match them.
Requests work best in writing and in detail. The clerk warns that staff will not search beyond duties authorized by law, so name the court, case number or style, record, date range, certification need, and delivery method. Ask the cost before ordering.
How Anson Cases Reach the County
Where a case starts depends on what it is. Anson municipal matters stay at the city tier unless a later lawful step moves them. Felonies and major civil, family, and child-protection cases begin in the 259th District Court. Probate, guardianship, juvenile, and related county-court matters start with the County Clerk instead. Evictions may land with the JP. So may small claims, limited civil matters, and fine-only cases. Magistrate work goes there too.
Docket flow: Anson Municipal Court → appropriate Jones County court → Eleventh Court of Appeals when an appeal follows the state route.
Levels are not an automatic path, though. Federal matters go through PACER and the Northern District of Texas, Abilene Division. For county-level guidance, the Jones County court docket is the place to start. re:SearchTX can show cases, filings, text, and hearings where it is integrated, though an account may be required and criminal access can be limited. Confirm with the clerk as the final step.
Anson Court Data Needs Context
Numbers help, but only with context. The Texas Demographic Center puts Anson at 2,294 people in its 2020 Census column. The fiscal year 2025 OCA municipal activity row shows 1,181 active pending at the start, with 369 added and 382 disposed. These are aggregate categories, not named Anson court records.
The city budget lists municipal-court fine revenue lines too. Revenue projections cannot tell you whether a case is pending, paid, dismissed, or appealable. Neither budget data nor OCA totals replaces an actual case docket.
Who Can See Anson Court Records
Access rules depend on the record type. Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 covers judicial records about court administration, while case records made through judicial power follow separate court-access rules. The Texas Public Information Act does not turn every case file into a City Hall open-records request. Send case-file requests to the clerk that maintains them.
Limits still apply. Sealed records, expunged matters, juvenile information, protected identifiers, and confidential records may be withheld or redacted, and fine-only cases can face added limits under Chapter 45A. A portal may show no result even when a record exists.
Key rules:
Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 addresses judicial administrative records, not every filed document.
Texas Public Information Act has a distinct boundary for judicial records.
Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 45A includes confidentiality provisions affecting fine-only records.
When the full file is off limits, ask what else can be provided. A redacted public copy, docket entry, or order may still be available.
Anson Courthouse Records and History
Anson's courthouse gives the town its civic identity, but history is not case access. The Texas Historical Commission marker records that voters picked Jones City, later Anson, as the county seat. It describes the 1910 courthouse. Elmer G. Withers of Stamford designed it. The building shows Beaux Arts and Arts and Crafts features, plus a Lady Justice clock tower.
For visits and requests, the current access address is 100 Courthouse Square. Historical sources may describe an intersection or another address context. Trust the current county or clerk page instead. The courthouse story explains why county offices sit in Anson. It does not identify the custodian for a city citation.
Anson is the county seat, but city citations stay city-specific. That rule resolves the most common local routing error.
